Chrysanthemum - read aloud

Chrysanthemum

by Kevin Henkes. (more about Kevin - https://kevinhenkes.com

Listen to and read the story of a little mouse who loved her name – until she went to school and others teased her.

This book goes well with the poem we posted: Isn't My Name Magical? (4/20/20). The Activity is the same.

ACTIVITY:  What is magical about your name? Were you named after a family member or someone famous? Did your family choose a name when you were born, or had they planned it for a long time? On a sheet of paper, draw the letters of your name in magical ways. Decorate the letters in fancy shapes, or cut the letters out of a magazine or newspaper. Write a few sentences about how you were named.

Make a book of your whole family!  And photos if you can. Be sure to write the date the photos were taken.

You can find the meaning and origin of MANY names from these sites:
