Hopscotch can be played inside or outside
Here's a simple game you can play alone or with your friends and family.
Watch this video so you get the main idea.

1. You will need to draw or map out connecting rectangles together on the floor- either single rectangles of double rectangles touching each other. You can use tape, string, or chalk to help you draw your rectangles.
2. Once your single or double rectangles are drawn, you will need to get a small piece of equipment to throw into the rectangles, known as a marker. This can be a small stone, beanbag, bottle cap, twig, money, etc.
3. Each rectangle will have one number in it. The rectangles will be numbered 1 through however many rectangles you have. You can choose whatever number you want in each rectangle.
(NOTE: you can choose to play hopscotch without numbers or a marker and just hop through the hopscotch board for fun).
Playing:
1. The first person to go through the hopscotch board will throw the marker somewhere on a rectangle. If the marker lands on a line or outside the rectangle(s), that person will lose their turn. The marker will be passed to the next person in line and he/she will have to wait for his/her next turn.
2. Once a marker is on a rectangle, that person will hop on one foot into the first empty rectangle. From then on, that person will hop in every subsequent empty rectangle until they get to the marker with the rectangle.
3.Once a player has hopped to the rectangle with the marker, he/she will pick up the marker turn around and hop back to the beginning of the hopscotch board.
4. Once a person has picked up their marker and has hopped back to the beginning on the board without making any mistakes*, that person will pass the marker to the next person in line. It is important to throw the marker to different rectangles throughout the game to challenge yourself.
*Making a mistake- mistakes are made if you fall, hop outside the lines, and/or hop past the rectangle with the marker. If any of these mistakes happen, that person will lose his/her turn.
Scoring:
1. Players will get points based on the rectangle they hopped to and back from without making a mistake (A person only get points based on the rectangle he/she hopped to and back from, which had the marker on it). Make sure you keep track of your own points.
2. Games are played until 20 points. Once a person gets to 20 points he/she has won and the hopscotch game stars over.
Have fun!!!!!
