Friendship Stones - Craft

Friendship Stones

A fun craft

Valentine's Day has several other new names that make is not only for romantic love. Have you heard "Palentines" Day (PAL)?  or GALentines Day (gal)?

I always think of my closest friends on Valentine's Day because, well, I love them, too.

So this is a great time to let those you care about know that YOU think THEY are special.

NOTE: This project will only take about 10 minutes, but it might take overnight to dry.

You need:

Small stones (think of something that can sit on their desk or bureau) (1 for each gift)

Red acrylic paint, or poster paint, or finger paint, or a red tamp pad

old newspaper or something to protect the work surface from spills

Paper towels

A black permanent marker (like a Sharpie)

Optional: Clear nail polish or spray varnish or hair spray

Step-by-step

1. Dust off the stones. Think about where you can put the heart.

2. Put a small amount of paint in a container or paper plate (or use the stamp pad)

3. Gently dip the flat part of your index finger in the paint (or on the stamp pad).

4. Gently place the flat part of your finger on the RIGHT portion of the stone (see the photo above).

5. Repeat step 3.

6. Gently place the flat part of your finger on the LEFT portion of the stone (see the photo above).

7. LET THE PAINT OR INK DRY.

8. Repeat for as many stones as you have.

Wipe your hands on the paper towel and clean up.

Let the stones dry for a few hours.

Using the SHARPIE, draw facial expressions and arms and legs (see the photo above to inspire you).

Write your name and the date on the back.

Coat the surface with clear nail polish or take it pursued and spray with clear varnish or hair spray. You might need hep with this part.

Let dry overnight.

Share your gift with someone you love.

See the postings on how to cut out a heart (2.5.2021), What else you can do with hearts (2/6/2021), for today's activity of using heart shapes to make animals.

You need a lot of heart cut outs, so make some.

Then use this picture to help guide you and to spark your imagination to make OTHER animals.

You need:
Paper,
Scissors,
Crayons or markers,
