May Flowers

MAY FLOWERS

It is said that April Showers bring May Flowers...

So here is an easy art activity to bring SPRING to your house.

You need:

Poster paint (or acrylic)

Paper towel or bath tissue tubes

Newspaper to cover your work surface

White paper

Green marker or green paint

A paper plate or something to pour the paint onto.

Cut the tube into 3-4 rings.

Gently squeeze one of the rings from the tube to make it pointed on one side.
(See the picture below to guide you).

Dip it into the paint. Print the tube onto the paper in 3 places, like shown in the picture below.

Repeat with the same color, or make another another ring for different colors.

When you have finished making the flower part, use green to make the flower stems.

Put the paper someplace to dry.

A beautiful bouquet!

Be sure to clean up.

WHO will you give this to?

Fancy Flowerpot

 Fancy Flowerpot -

There are more directions if you click the link.
Thank you to Crafty Morning for the idea.

You need:

 a clay pot
2-3 different colors of paint
foam brushes (which can be washed and reused)
a black Sharpie
and a little kid!

Spread the paint on the child's feet, and use them like a stamp pad on the flower pot.

On the bottom of the pot, write the child's name and the date.

Add the body and antennae.

If your flowerpot is too small for footprints, you can use fingerprints to make a design, too.

See the posts from 8/8/2020  and 8/30/2020 for FINGERPRINT art ideas.

This is an awesome present for someone special

Weekend Snack Time

 Weekend Snack Time

How cool would it be to make this snack for your family and friends?

You need:
         (Suggestions, you can substitute anything)

Wraps
Filling (like meat or tuna, or peanut butter)
Cheese
Pepperoni

Put a wrap on a cutting board and spread it with your  favorites (see above), Roll it up to make a tube, and then cut into slices.

Arrange the slices on a platter (see the photo as one idea) and then decorate your face with veggies, olives, pickles, or anything yummy.

You can also do this as an individual service. If you make these with friends or family members, each person can create their own.

Share with your friends and family.

The Butterfly Counting Book - Read Aloud Video

 The Butterfly Counting Book

 Read Aloud Video

I love this time of year where we live. The butterflies begin to appear in our yard.

They help to pollinate plants (the vegetables and fruits we have planted) and create art in the sky.
I love to take the photos of them. Then I give the pictures to friends and family members for gifts or cards.

Here is a book that my friend, Jerry Pallotta, wrote that shows different kinds of butterflies while counting them.

Look for some butterfly craft activities coming up. Are there some that were posted earlier in this blog??? Go look through the previous posts to find them. I am SURE you will find something else about butterflies, AND new things to explore.

Share this blog with your friends and family.

Enjoy the book here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKxdfUxaTbs

How many butterflies did you find? Look at the different patterns, colors, and sizes. Nature provides a beautiful show for all to see.

BASIC BUBBLE RECIPE - creativity and science

 How to make BUBBLE

BASIC BUBBLES RECIPE.    creativity and science

I hope you enjoyed this week's story, The Bubble Factory, by Tomie DePaola. If you missed it, go to 4/6/21 post.

Today you will get a recipe on how to make our OWN bubbles.

Here are the things you need:

INGREDIENT LIST: - 1 CUP Room temperature Water ( 20–22 °C OR 68–72 °F - 1/2 CUP Hot Water (Careful when handling) - 2 TBSP Sugar (Any Sugar is fine) - 1/2 CUP DISH SOAP (Dawn is my favorite) Click here to watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqHcrIbWT1M

Tips: - Dilute the sugar with the hot water before mixing all components together - Avoid creating too many suds when mixing - Make sure you use a clean bowl when mixing- any dirt or chemicals can destroy the bubbles - Filtered water is the best.

You can bend a big paperclip to form a circle to dip into the bubble solution.

What OTHER things around the house can be used as a "bubble wand"?

Have fun!
